21 Bible Verses to Declare Over Your Life

I’ve been learning about the importance of declarations. As simple a practice as it may sound, declaring is powerful. It feeds (or crushes) your spirit and boosts (or weakens) your faith. It shapes your beliefs.

I make a lot of decrees, but I don’t just decree anything. Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue,” and James 3 warns about the damage it can do. The tongue is not a weapon we want to misuse; we must wield it carefully. We must speak life and not death, and the most powerful, life-giving declarations we can make are from the Word of the Lord.

Here are 21 great Bible verses to decree over your life this year. Speak them over yourself regularly, and see if these words don’t make a difference in your spirit and in your life!

1. I will live and not die and declare the works of the Lord (Psalm 118:17).
2. I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13).
3. I am strong and courageous. I will not be afraid of anyone, for the Lord my God goes with me. He will not fail me or forsake me. (Deuteronomy 31:6).
