I had the privilege of attending the Global Leadership Summit last week for the third year in a row. The GLS is put on each year by Willow Creek in Chicago and has been an invaluable source of encouragement for me each time I’ve attended.
If you’ve never gone before, I highly recommend it! Don’t be intimidated by the word “leadership” – YOU are a leader! Everyone is. Whether you’re an executive, a volunteer, an employee, a parent, or a friend, you have influence over other people and your leadership matters.
Somehow it always feels like the speakers know just what I need to hear, and this year was no different. As always, there were some killer quotes! Here are 18 of my favorites:
“If you have a vision that everyone believes in, it’s too small for you.” – T.D. Jakes
“Your authenticity is at the heart of your power.” – Carla Harris
“You can have control or you can have growth, but you can’t have both.” – Craig Groeschel
“If you’re still excited about what you did five years ago, you’re not growing.” – John Maxwell
“There is no great leader without pain. There is no great leader without challenges. There is no great leader without doubt.” – Dr. Nthabiseng Legoete
“The most capable of all often don’t know it.” – Craig Groeschel
“Your job as a leader is to create other leaders.” – Carla Harris
“They might laugh when you start, but they’ll take pictures when you finish!” – T.D. Jakes
“There’s a difference between leaders who are popular and leaders who are respected.” – Craig Groeschel
“We are blessed to be a blessing to someone else.” – Carla Harris
“If your business becomes someone’s answer, they will seek it, and you won’t have to sell it.” – T.D. Jakes
“We all have power, because we all have influence.” – Danielle Strickland
“The road to success is paved with mistakes well-handled.” – Danny Meyer
“Other people’s intentions are invisible to us.” – Sheila Heen
“The money we make is an unintended byproduct of being part of something larger than ourselves.” – Simon Sinek
“Our highest intuition is in the area of our giftedness.” – Angela Ahrendts
“Success turns luck into genius.” – Rasmus Ankersen
“Your freedom is on the other side of your fear.” And “Your greatness is on the other side of your pain.” – Erwin McManus
The whole point of the two-day summit? Everyone is a leader. You are a leader. Dream big, take a risk, be yourself, and be a blessing to others. This world needs you.
