Just Think Where You Could Be 10 Years From Now…

Last week not only marked the start of a new year, but a new DECADE. Can you believe it?

I’ve been reflecting a lot on the last decade of my life. It was quite a ride! And it wasn’t quite what I expected it to be. Some things that I fully expected to change didn’t, and many things I didn’t expect to change at all were completely transformed.

Here are just a few things in my life today that have changed from a decade ago:

1. I’m a college graduate.
2. Twenty-three people have been added to my extended family.
3. My parents no longer have a landline.
4. I live in a different city and state.
5. I have 20/20 vision without the help of glasses or contacts (LASEK FTW).
6. I’ve gone on dates.
7. I know what a 401k and an HSA are.
8. People are wearing scrunchies again. (Not me, but people.)
9. I have a smartphone instead of a flip phone.
10. I’m all-too-familiar with the songs “Baby Shark” and “Let It Go.”
11. Most of my closest friends were strangers 10 years ago, and some of my closest friends from 10 years ago are now strangers.
12. I read nonfiction by choice and actually enjoy it.
13. I can rent a car.
14. The kids I used to babysit are starting to get married.
15. I have less acne and more wrinkles.

In the past 10 years, I’ve succeeded and failed, won and lost, laughed and cried, checked a whole lot off my bucket list, and grown more than I knew I needed to. It feels like no area of my life has remained unchanged.

A lot can change in a decade!

What has God done in the last decade of your life? What can he do in the next 10 years?

Just imagine the possibilities. Ten years from now, EVERYTHING in your life could be different. Any of the following things could change:

• Job
• Family
• Finances
• Relationships
• Zip code
• Marital status
• Health
• Appearance
• Knowledge, wisdom and expertise
• Likes and dislikes
• Walk with God

All of it can look different in a decade…are you ready?

Think how far you’ve come in 10 years and imagine what God can do in 10 more. What are you dreaming of and hoping for in the 2020s?

I pray God grants you the deepest desires of your heart and gives you more than you could ever ask or imagine.

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
