It’s hard to believe the holiday season is upon us and another year is quickly approaching. That means it’s time for a few fun round-ups: my favorite songs and books of 2024! I’ll share my favorite books soon (I’m still trying to finish up a few more that may or may not make the list 😊) but first, here are the songs I played the most in 2024:

20. Justin Timberlake: “Paradise (feat. *NSYNC).” Naturally, one of only two exceptions to my almost-all-Christian playlist is the second *NSYNC song in 20 years. I feel like I should listen to this on a portable CD player while sitting in my inflatable chair.

19. Casting Crowns & CAIN: “Nobody.” The CAIN siblings add such pretty harmonies to any song, and I love anything they’re featured in.

18. Casting Crowns & CAIN: “Desert Road.” Truth be told, I wish this song wasn’t so relatable, but it is. Much of my life hasn’t turned out to be the story I wanted it to be, but when God puts us on roads that feel desert-like, he does so with purpose. We may not know where he’s taking us, but we know we can trust him to bring us to his best place for us, and someday we’ll understand why the road he chose was necessary.

17. Tom MacDonald: “FACTS (feat. Ben Shapiro).” LOL. I can’t believe this actually made my top 20, but it did and I find this hilarious. The older I get, the less I care if I offend people with the truth.

16. Pat Barrett & CAIN: “Beautiful Life.” A good reminder about the miracles that can be found in everyday life and that each day is a gift.

15. Passion & Melodie Malone: “I’ve Witnessed It (Single Version).” I’ve witnessed God’s faithfulness this year and every year, and I don’t ever want to forget it. God is real, he is always working, and he is faithful.

14. Tauren Wells, We The Kingdom & Davies: “Take It All Back.” A repeat from last year that’s still a powerful anthem.

13. Caleb & John: “Somebody Like Me (feat. CAIN).” Surprise, surprise: another CAIN song! 😊 I love this catchy, upbeat tune.

12. Bethel Music, Peter Mattis & Sarah Sperber: “Alpha and Omega (Live).” I’ve always loved this song, and it’s so fun to see a Bethel Music cover version sung by my revival group pastor from BSSM! 🎉

11. Sarai Rivera & Tauren Wells: “I Give You My Dreams.” A beautiful song of surrender. I am reminded to re-surrender every area of my life to Christ whenever I hear this song.

10. Leeland & Charity Gayle: “You’re Not Done.” If you’re still here and you still have breath in your lungs, God’s not done! I’ve spent many tired mornings and exhausted afternoons at school listening to this song on hard days, letting it minister to me and encourage me that God is making a way.

9. CAIN: “Yes He Can.” I’ve always loved this song, and I can’t help but listen to it over and over, because it’s such a faith-booster on both the good and the bad days!

8. Taya: “Gonna Be Good.” This song puts me in a more optimistic mood when I’m not sure how things will turn out. No matter which way things go, it’s gonna be good, because God is involved!

7. Maverick City Music: “The Story I’ll Tell (feat. Genavieve Linkowski).” Though some seasons are difficult, this song reminds me that God works all things for good and someday I’ll have a beautiful story to tell of how he was faithful even in the hard seasons.

6. We The Kingdom: “Won’t He Do It.” YES, HE WILL!

5. CAIN: “Any More.” I still listen to this song and think of my students, and now I think of my baby niece, too. ❤️

4. Bethel Music, Hannah McClure & Noah Paul Harrison: “Lift Up Holy Hands/He’s Alive (Spontaneous) [Live].” This whole album got a lot of plays from me this year, but this song is my favorite. This whole album brings the peace of the Holy Spirit to any environment. I played it multiple times when I was babysitting my niece, and she loved it, too – it put her right to sleep!

3. Brandon Lake: “Count ‘Em.” A powerful anthem of God’s faithfulness. “TELL YOUR ENEMIES THE VICTORY IS ALREADY HERE!” (Did I yell? I meant to.)

2. Elevation Worship: “Faithful Then / Faithful Now (feat. Chris Brown).” I LOVE this song and I play it loudly. What God did before, he will do again! He was faithful in the past and he’s still faithful now!

1. We The Kingdom: “The Plans.” Even though it’s a truth I know and I can quote the verse, I find I often need to be reminded that God has good plans for me. This song is the perfect way to remember that God is faithful and he’s doing a good work in me.

Yes, I listen to a lot of songs about God’s faithfulness. It’s intentional, more or less, because I want to think about the faithfulness of God as much as possible! Remembering what he’s done before gives me hope for the future, whether I’m already feeling it or not. There is hope, because he is faithful!

Praying you feel the hope of Jesus today and that your faith rises up in this season!

If you need more encouraging songs, here’s my list from last year.

See you soon with my favorite books of 2024!
